What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Odds are that you will turn to Google to help you answer this question, and you’re not alone: Millions of people search the site for costume inspiration every Halloween. In fact, so many people do, that the search engine ranks costumes by popularity each year.
Last year, superheroes—and villains—swept away the competition. Overall, 11 percent of the costumes searched for were comic book characters. Meanwhile, people hunted for classic horror costumes 9 percent of the time. But Wonder Woman topped the list as the most-searched-for costume. Will this information help with your Halloween plans?
Based on Google’s search data, how many more searches last year were for superheroes than classic horror character costumes out of 50,000 total searches? Record your work and answer on our Numbers in the News answer sheet.
