The next time you break out Monopoly on a game night, you might be in for a surprise. Since 1935, the board game has pitted players against each other in a race to get rich by buying properties. The game includes brightly colored paper money, like pastel pink $5 bills.
But the newest version is going cashless. Instead of using paper money, players will give commands to a voice assistant that will handle all transactions. The change was meant to stop cheating players who might grab an extra $100 from the bank during the game and to reflect the real-world trend of using less physical cash.
